6 years...

So it's January 19th...our anniversary! I can't believe we've been married for six years. In some ways it seems like we've been married such a loooonngg time, but in other ways it feels like we're still dating. Nevertheless, the past 6 years have been great, even as I remember the challenges we've faced together. I think they've just made us stronger. I can honestly say that after 6 years, we have never had a fight where both of us were angry and yelling at each other...like the movies. Thank the Lord! There may have been times where we weren't just soo lovey dovey with each other, or may have said things that weren't nice, but for some reason we seem to get over it quickly and move on. I'm thankful for Daniel and how loving he is towards me and his consistency in showing love to me no matter what. After 6 years, 3 kids, 4 apartments, 1 house, 1 dog, and 3 cities later, I'm so blessed to have Daniel as my husband!

8 months!

Christopher turned 8 months old today...I can't believe how time has flown by! It seems like yesterday that I was waddling around the house chasing Matthew and Katherine! Christopher's personality has really blossomed in the past month and I'm having so much fun watching him develop. He is a very determined, but easy going, baby. When he wants something (or doesn't want something for that matter), he's sure to let us know and will clench his fists and scream. This usually happens when Matthew is trying to ride him as a horse or is taking all his toys away, so I can totally understand why he would want to scream about that. But other than that Christopher is such an easy going, happy baby who hardly ever cries. He's also very curious and we can tell he's always trying to figure things out and see what's going on. He LOVES splashing in the bathtub and playing with Katherine and Matt. Although he's already 8 months, he's not started crawling yet. H...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone! According to FranklinCovey's annual survey, the Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions or Goals made for 2008 were ranked as follows: 1. Get out of debt or save money (Amen!) 2. Lose weight (Why not...or just stay where I am!) 3. Develop a healthy habit (e.g., exercise or healthy eating) (Yes yes!) 4. Get organized (Oh yes!) 5. Develop a new skill or talent (How about learning how to juggle?;) 6. Spend more time with family and friends (Of course) 7. Other (Hmm...) 8. Work less, play more (Not sure I can agree to this one) 9. Break an unhealthy habit (e.g., smoking, alcohol, overeating) (Hmm...eating too much chocolate?) 10. Change employment (Not for me!) The survey also found that 35% of respondents break their New Year’s resolutions by the end of January and only 23% of those surveyed don’t ever break them. Nearly 40% of those surveyed attribute breaking their resolutions to having too many other things to do, while 33% say they are not committed to the resol...

Joseph, Mary, and Baby Jesus...Contemporary style

Yesterday I went to the store for a few things and ended up buying a Nativity set and displayed it in the house. Of course, it wasn't long before the kids found it and started playing with the pieces. Matthew ran around saying "Baby Jesus!...I love you baby Jesus!" and then Katherine wanted to pretend that Christopher was baby Jesus. So a few towels, headbands, and bathrobes later, this is the outcome:) Katherine praying over her newly born baby Jesus- Katherine and baby Jesus so excited and filled with joy- Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus in the stable (yes, with a Christmas tree in the background)- Luke 2:14 "And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth."

A Little Bit of Christmas...

I've had a lot of fun this year decorating for Christmas! Last year we really didn't decorate since we had just moved into our house and weren't even in town long enough to enjoy it. Plus in years past, we've had a 4 foot Christmas tree that was "child-proof". Well this year our tree is definitely not child proof but I guess we took the risk. It's been great watching the kid's faces every morning looking at the tree and turning on the lights and train underneath it. We also figured out that the train calms Christopher down and sometimes puts him to sleep! Last night he was really fussy and after a while we weren't sure what to do. So we just sat down in front of the tree and turned the train on for Matt, and Christopher just watched it go around and round for a while and stopped crying! We'll have to try that again!...maybe we should keep the train out year round! :) Daniel was in the Christmas spirit last night and decided to wrap two presents...

Our Thanksgiving

I know this is a little late, but better late than never right!? We had a very fun Thanksgiving this year, as usual, visiting the families in Houston. We ate great food, as always, had fun family time, and I even got to spend kidless girl time with my sister which was lots of fun! Grandpa Farmer was here for Thanksgiving this year and this man just amazes me. This is Daniel's almost 92 year old Grandpa with Christopher, almost 7 months old. Grandpa is in such great health and puts most 70 year olds to shame! We went to a Christmas tree farm the day after Thanksgiving and he was walking all through the forest carrying a measuring stick for the tree and did a great job keeping up with us! Not only does he NOT need a cane, wheel chair, dentures, a nursing home, or any of those other "old-people" things, but he does an amazing job holding a conversation and following a football game! Anyways, he is a great Godly man and an honor to be around. I hope my boys will follow in his...
