Fall Festival/Pumpkin Patch

Normally every year we go to Marble Falls (about an hour away) for a Fall Festival and pumpkin patch, but this year with Christopher's leg and to keep things simple we decided to stay here and find something locally to enjoy. We went to a Fall Festival about 15 minutes away today and it was fun! Not to mention that the weather was just gorgeous! The kids got to pick and decorate pumpkins, jump on bouncy houses, pet animals in a petting zoo, and more. It didn't take long for the kids to find their pumpkins! Christopher had fun playing pumpkin basketball! He was limited to what he could do today, but he enjoyed this...he always loves basketball!! Matthew giving him a push forward...and he got a basket! Aww, so close! Matthew got a hold of the camera and took this shot of Christopher, but I thought it turned out pretty cute (except he's missing some hair:). Katherine got her turn with the camera and snapped this shot of us. She's always been a natural photographer (since s

Poor Guy...

On Saturday Christopher (our 2 yr. old) was outside playing in the backyard with our other kids and fell and hurt his leg. He cried on and off for most of the night and wouldn't walk or even stand on his leg but we didn't see any swelling, so we somewhat thought he just badly pulled a muscle/tendon or had a sprain. On Sunday afternoon, we decided to take him to the urgent care and they took X-rays and found that he has a spiral fracture on his tibia (i.e. - the larger bone in the leg), which means he has a broken leg. They put his leg in a splint and told us to contact an orthopedic surgeon this week. Today, I made an appointment early (and actually got in for this afternoon!) to see a pediatric orthopedist and the Dr. said that he has to be in long leg cast (goes from toe to uppermost part of thigh) for 4 1/2 weeks and then we'll come back and take more X-rays to determine if he'll need a short cast put on. If it's healed properly, then we can just remove the long

Our trip to Sea World, San Antonio!

This past weekend, Daniel's company provided a fun family day at Sea World in San Antonio. The kids always love going there and it's a fun day for us too. It was super hot that day, but thank goodness for the shaded shows!! We got to start off the day with a yummy lunch at the Pavilion and they had prize drawings and special animals brought in for the kids to see, such as a giant lizard, a lemur, a baby alligator, and a baby flaming. We also got a visit from Shamu, who Christopher was SURE to stay away from (as you can see he's nowhere to be found in the picture:) Matthew petting the giant lizard:) The baby flamingo followed his trainer everywhere and would hide underneath his legs, like he does his mommy:) Aww.... The lemur... After lunch, we went on a "Behind the scenes" tour where we got to go visit several of the animals closer up and see what all goes on every day. It was a LOT of walking and very hot, but I think the kids enjoyed it. Here's a pictur

School and Butterfly Hotdogs!

I'm sorry...I know I haven't posted in forever! With going on vacation for a week, Katherine's birthday, school starting, and going back to "work" part-time at church all happening within 2 weeks, we were busy!! We had a fabulous time on vacation this year but unfortunately didn't take a lot of pictures since our famous photographer, Eric (Daniel's brother), wasn't able to join us until mid-week (I know I only have myself to blame!). I do have some photos, and will try to post some of our great trip soon. Anyways, Katherine started school this past week and is enjoying 2nd grade with Ms. Knapp! I personally love the routine of school and getting up early! It's amazing how much we get done by 7 a.m.!! There's just a new fresh start with Fall and school starting! Also, I saw on this blog here how to make these super easy and cute butterfly hotdogs! We improvised a little since I didn't have the pretzel sticks, and also used the jr. grands bi
